Expert Analysis
Hector Marquez | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
One of the most impressive aspects of Yenchik’s game this season is her motor. Win or lose, she has a motor that is always on. She is constantly moving, and before you know it, she is going to be defending at a high level. Ember has attacking ability as she finds ways to get to the rim, and she also has catch-and-shoot ability. A lot of upside.

Ember is a shifty, agile guard who uses her footwork and change of pace to beat defenders or create space off the drive, either finishing at the rim or drawing contact. She benefits from quick ball movement—often off her sister’s passes—and makes teams pay when left unattended, confidently knocking down the three.

Ember shows the kind of leadership you can’t teach—especially impressive for a freshman. When the ball was in her hands, she took command of the floor, directing traffic and helping her teammates get into position. Her vocal presence and confidence stood out, not just in running plays but in keeping the energy steady and focused. That communication and poise will only elevate those around her as she continues to grow into a true floor general.

Look out over there in Provo as there is another Yenchik that is ready to compete and play hard to earn some minutes. She is a quick guard that can be on the ball of off the ball. She is a player on the rise in that Class of 2029.

Provo will have another guard that can create for others and herself in Ember. She will join her sister in a possible solid backcourt living under the same roof. She brings a lot of attacking to the floor. She attacks passes and catches the ball on the go and it make sit easier for her to get to the basket. With her attacking and able to hit floaters, runner and play off of two feet Provo will have another player on the floor that can get open looks for others on the floor.
