Hayden announced a move to the 2025 class when the KHSAA offered the opportunity for players to move back a class due to Covid. But Barrier decided to move back to her original class this spring. She was committed to Miami (OH) but has since re-opened her commitment. Regardless of which college she lands at, Barrier will make an impact this season and at the next level.

Barrier had been a little quiet over the last year or so but has started to find herself again. She recently committed to Miami (OH) and moved back to her original class as a 2024 prospect after originally taking the COVID free reclass. Hayden is tough off the bounce and a good shooter.

With Barrier moving back to the 2024 class, I would be shocked if she is not the Miss KY Basketball candidate from the 10th Region as she has been a standout player in the region since she was a 7th grader. She has some of the deepest range in the state on her shot, but can score inside or out. She is a playmaker as well and constantly puts in the work to be the best.
2022-23 Season Stats: 17.3 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 39.7% FG (overall), 32.2% 3pt FG, 69.2% FT

Another player you better pick up as soon as she crosses the half court line, Barrier can really shoot the ball at a high level. She continuously works hard on bettering her game, including increasing her range, and that is very clear when you watch her play. Every time I see her, it feels like she’s improved from the last time I watched her play, no matter how impressive that last performance was. Barrier is a true 3 level scorer though, so while you must stay up on her to prevent her from getting her shot off, she can also make strong drives to the basket or score in the mid-range. What I really love about her game is that you can never question her work ethic or passion for the game. She is constantly getting her teammates involved in the offense and has continued to grow as a defensive stopper. Barrier finished this season in the top 35 on the state’s leaderboard for 3-point field goals made per game after knocking down 2.5 three pointers per game. This class may be one of the most talented overall, but there’s a reason Barrier remains at the top of the 2025 rankings.

Barrier has Steph Curry range to go along with her excellent shooting form. Despite early struggles from deep this season, she can really shoot the basketball at an extremely high level and I can say with confidence that her outside shots will start falling this season. Barrier is another player that puts in serious work outside of practice to constantly get better. Her IQ is high and she’s a really tough player overall. As well as she can shoot the ball, she’s a true threat at all 3 levels and she’ll find ways to put the ball in the basket against anyone. The 2025 class is loaded, but Barrier is still by far one of the best players in this class.

Barrier’s a special player that is constantly looking to make even more improvements to her game. Every chance I got to watch her play this Summer, I was beyond impressed by her defensive intensity. She was facing some of the best competition around and continuously proving that she can play at a high level. Barrier played excellent on-ball defense, applying heavy pressure and making it extremely tough on whoever she was guarding, but she also was getting into the passing lanes so well off of the ball. She runs the floor, can finish at the rim, and can knock down shots from anywhere on the floor. Her shooting form is beautiful as well. Barrier moves without the ball and makes some really fantastic passes. Her handles are also solid. She has been dominating at Montgomery County for years now and I’m excited to see how much she’s able to improve her already impressive numbers this season.
