20+ scorer as a freshman, Mayfield had 35 in Calumet’s come from behind win against defending State Champion Hammon in the Area Consolation game. I hear opposing student sections complaining about her FT trips, but she’s so strong and picks her spots so well that its hard to keep her off the line unless you just want her to score at the rim all day, and if you give her too much space she’s just going to shoot over the top. Tough matchup for Calumet in first round, but Mayfield good enough to start working her way up the State Tourney scoring lists already.

A freshman with a rep thanks to a 50 point game explosion earlier this year. Has a bag as a scorer, sets up opponents with a strong power dribble. Then can shake and bake with hesitation moves to the rim, or hit counters with spin moves. Tough bucket getter against contact. Shoots it well off the dribble, quickly getting into her compact shooting form. With a good balanced base. Hits in the mid-range and from beyond the arc. Ended the game with what looked like a nasty ankle injury. Hopefully she’s back to full health soon for Calumet’s playoff run.

The freshman already has her name in the Oklahoma record books, as she went for 51 points in a January win over Geary. She’s a silky shooter from deep, which is fitting considering her family. Her older brother Hunter is a junior, and won State last year. While her father Jacob, who coaches Calumet boys, scored 2470 career poins. Calumet is now 7th in Class B1, with a 12-4 record.
