Expert Analysis
Devin Record | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
How do you think your team and yourself performed throughout this season?rn-I think my team performed really well this season I feel like we played really well as a team together and showed we can do a lot of different things on the court. Personally, I think that I had a pretty good senior season. I was consistent and stepped up down late.
What was the biggest obstacle you and your team faced this season?rn-I think that biggest obstacle that we had was the coaching situation and how we had no coach the beginning of the year and it was just kind of a scramble at the beginning of the season. So, just adjusting to the new coach a new system, different environment. Everything just being new this year. I think that was probably the biggest obstacle. along with the loss to Lakeside during the regular season, I think that was a big obstacle for a team to over come as well, not having lost a game in over a year I think we really felt that loss bad. But we learned a ton from it and we all knew we never wanted to feel that again.
What do you think you improved most on the court?rn-I think I improved most on the court just being an overall better leader, being more vocal on the court, communicating with teammates, pushing teammates, and just being more of a voice on the team. Also, I think I was able to show my versatility this year pretty well being able to play inside and outside and show that I can do a lot of different things on the court.
What are you looking to improve before the next level?rn-Some things I wanna improve on, are just overall getting stronger, building my body up getting quicker and more explosive. I also want to improve defensively.
Who are some teammates that you think stood out this season? Who are some teammates who could have breakout years next year in your eyes?rn- Katie Fiso Katie Fiso 5'10" | PG Garfield | 2024 State WA and Rakyiah Jackson are two teammates I think stood out this season they were both consistent all year and we’re big contributors to this team into winning another state championship. Katie being able to distribute the ball really well and attack the basket at will and Rakiyah being a tremendous rebounder and finisher around the basket! She shot the 3 well for us this year as well. For teammates with breakout years next year I would say jayda lewis and sarah lessig being both only sophomores, and having 2 state championships I think they have a lot of knowledge and experience early on that will help them be successful in the future. They both have grown their games a ton in the last 2 years and have become more confident! I see them both taking huge steps in the coming years.

One of the most athletic front court players in the state. She can run, rebound, and scores from all levels. She is a tough defensive player with size, length, and athletic ability. She has a nice touch from mid-range and can finish at the rim with her strength and size. Garfield heads toward the post-season as once again the favorite to win it in Class 3A. She is a versatile and important piece of their attack on offense and defense.

Jones is a bonafide forward who has already committed to playing at Wisconsin after this season. She helped Garfield to a 3A State Title last season and a huge part of her game is her length. She has a quick and long first step that gets her around defenders on her way to the hoop. Then inside, she uses that long reach and good strength to own the boards on both ends. She’s a multi-dimensional threat with size, quickness, and skill. There’s a good chance Garfield works their way back to the title game with Jones operating inside.
