About Isla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my playing style as aggressive, powerful, and fluid, combining strength with smooth control.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

When I was in middle school, I often struggled with overthinking and getting in my own head during games. I’m now working toward developing a calm, fluid, and focused mindset that allows me to consistently play with both skill and intelligence throughout the entire game. Off the court, I would describe my personality as happy, funny, and witty.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in both club volleyball (and high school), and club basketball (and high school). The only non sports award I have received was the humanitarian award.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed a strong ability to work well with all types of people. Playing on multiple teams has helped me adapt to teammates with different backgrounds, personalities, and playing styles, strengthening my communication and teamwork skills.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have been diagnosed with Vocal Cord Dysfunction (VCD), a breathing condition that has limited my ability to play for extended periods of time. I am currently attending voice therapy to help improve my breathing control and work toward a full recovery.

What type of college are you looking for?

Im looking for a college that supports all kinds of people, and offers a large selection of majors. I don't need it to be a super big college, but I am aiming to go to a D1 school.
