Simmons was a first-team selection as a sophomore and received second-team all-league honors last season after placing among the top scorers in the league. She’s known for scoring the ball, breaking the previous single-game record last season with a 40-point game, and reaching the 1000-point mark, but she also shows great vision to find her teammates. She’s a player who can weave her way inside, put pressure on the interior defense, and then distribute to shooters along the perimeter. She plays hard and should be in for another big year this winter.

Izzy isn’t just a shooter, she is an all around talented player who does a lot of things for her team. She recorded double doubles on several occasions, even flirting with a triple double a time or two. She is quick to anticipate on defense, and has great speed in the open floor once she gets it. A lot of times she starts the break herself with her willingness to rebound. All that said, she is also an elite shooter, shoots it from as deep as I’ve seen from most any player. She has a quick release and great shot mechanics. She scored 40 points once and 41 in another game. She broke her own mom’s school record for single game scoring with the 40 point effort. She ended up averaging just over 18 points last season. She also shot 86% from the free throw line.

A top deep ball threat in the state and I’m talking really deep. She will let it fly from NBA range no problem. She has elite guard skills and she’ll show them off scoring from all over the court. I love her skill set as it’s one of the best for guards in WA.

The start to conference play was simply magical for Izzy Simmons and Hermiston High School, which competes in Washington’s Mid-Columbia Conference due to location. In the win over Hanford, Simmons scored an incredible 40 points, breaking the previous single-game scoring record at Hermiston of 38 points set by her own mother 26 years ago. Following that up, Simmons put up 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals against a very good Chiawana team, while simultaneously passing the 1,000 point scoring mark for her career. The talented junior point guard has had an incredible career overall, and it will be a treat to watch her as she continues this dazzling play through the rest of the conference season.

Currently ranked #12 in the 2025 PGH WA rankings. She isn’t a huge sleeper. She led the Mid-Co 3A/4A in scoring last season. She has the ability to take over games. She has range and a beautiful touch from three. One of the best shooters in the class of 2025. She also uses the dribble to be effective from all levels. It’s her ability to stretch the defense to NBA three type range that sets her apart.

Her shot mechanics are not only great but it allows her to shoot it from way beyond the arc at a high percentage. She has some of the best deep ball range in the state. She can also score with tough drives to the hoop and in the mid-range. She has been about as consistent as you can get, scoring around 20 points a game this season. She is also a strong ball-handling guard who plays the point well. It is her Stephen Curry like range that sets her apart and makes her one of the most dangerous scoring guards as only a junior next year.
