Jamiya Woodard
About Jamiya
Expert Analysis

Woodard is often instant offense off the bench for Union. Quick with a killer crossover, she’s able to get defenders on their heels and get downhill. Good mid-range game, along with runners and floaters to score over taller opponents. Fun to watch in transition as well. Great injection of energy and unpredictability, who can help swing games for the Lady Redhawks.

JiMaya is a pure athlete that can just play basketball. The old school in me would list her as a slasher type or known as the 3. Handles the ball well enough to get by her defender with the first step and the athleticism takes over on how she will score. The type of player that beats her man on a quick back door cut for a bucket. I have watched JaMiya over the past few years since she stood out at a Top 250 couple years back and her game has progressed.
Defensibly thrives in a up tempo press or some type of man defense where she can use her quickness. Explosive jumper that can come flying in for a rebound out of nowhere. A type of player to keep an eye on as the summer continues. She should be receiving interest and offers if not they are coming

Game Watched: vs Bixby, February 29th
There were a couple transition plays and drives that showed Woodard has a real burst with the ball, pulling away from defenders with an extra gear. That makesher an interesting prospect and very dangerous going downhill. Her game is a little wild at times, with the need to continue to improve decision making. Specifically as a passer. But the raw talent is there, as evident with even some defensive plays that also highlighted match her athletic ability. In the overtime of contest, she single handedly tried to win the game for Union when she drilled a big three and soon after recorded another steal and drew a foul. Ultimately, Union won lose ending Woodard’s junior campaign, but she’s an intriguing prospect to monitor during grassroots season.
