After a 2-0 start to the season with a win over Wilson Hall and one vs. Gilbert (at the GRAD Athletics Thanksgiving Classic), SCISA 3A Orangeburg Prep was dealt its first loss of the season at the hands of 4A Richland Northeast. The final result may have been 52-36, but Yonce still turned in an impressive performance for her team. She led all Orangeburg Prep scorers with 10 points. Yonce is a double-double threat on a consistent basis given she is every bit as potent a rebounder as she is a scorer. Her athletic career over the years has also seen her excel as a volleyball and as a softball player. She primarily plays at the four and has no problems utilizing her height to her advantage to create matchup problems.

Yonce arrives at Orangeburg Prep from Wardlaw Academy and has already athletically immersed herself with the Indians as part of its volleyball team. Softball is another sport that she has played throughout her athletic career. Typically, Yonce will play as a power forward in the frontcourt and her 5-foot-8 frame comes into play when bringing down rebounds. She is unafraid to draw contact and will take her chances at the free throw line. Yonce will also display her confidence as she will call for the ball when she is certain she can make a play. She will be a major boost to the Indians as they cross over from the 2A end of things.

Prep Girls Hoops noticed Yonce with Orangeburg Prep at a recent camp at Cathedral Academy. Previously, she wore the colors of Wardlaw Academy where she also padded her athletic resume through her volleyball and softball work. Mostly, she will play as a big and showcases her confidence as she will call for the ball when she is sure she can make a play – which is often. In addition, rebounding is another key element to what she does and she is unafraid of contact that can place her at the free throw line. She will be part of an Indians team that will now be part of SCISA’s 3A division.
