UIC has had some strong 4/5s over the past couple of seasons, and they could be welcoming in another one. Powers has shown growth in her game this past season, and it’s clear how impactful that was, as she led her Alton program downstate. She could be a big piece for UIC’s future.

Powers has more hustle in her finger than many players have in their bodies. Her efficiency on the court was evident. She crashed the boards with a purpose, was the first one back on defense and did what she could to finish the job. Was a pleasure to watch.

Powers can bring a lot to a program offensively, especially from the nail on down. She has solid footwork, strength, and patience when shes underneath. She’s a threat in all PnR situations and can make an impact in multiple areas. As offers continue to come in, coaches should reach out soon—Powers won’t be available for much longer.

Powers has been playing with a different type of confidence and its showing in her game as well as all the conversations at tournaments. She is simply dominant in the low block area. She has soft touch around the rim, and could stretch the floor to about 12-15 feet if needed. This program success has her hands written over it.

Cracking the top 10, Powers has continuously showed that she is a true 4/5. The hands are like glue, her awareness under the basket is on point, and her patience and IQ are strong. She knows how to use her body when finishing around the rim, she knows when to pop or roll.. and defensively she’s just as active. Communication is big when it comes to post players, and Powers never has to be told to do that. High potential.

There was no other post player like Powers this weekend. Amazing hands, soft touch under the rim, and she knows how to seal then keep the ball high when she receives the high entry pass. Strong, active and LOUD (on both ends). Jarius is making a case for the best post in her class.

Powers is a strong and powerful Forward who uses her athleticism and mobility to play and defend multiple positions. She has great awareness in the lane and understands how to win position against opponents so that her teammates can get her the ball before finishing strong at the hoop. Jarius has an impressive combination of physicality and control for a sophomore and gives some versatility with her ability to knock down shots and defend on the perimeter.
