About Jayla
Expert Analysis
Brandon Fisher | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Jayla is a wiry hooper with solid length on her frame. She used that length to block a bunch of shots throughout the course of Sunday’s showcase. I was most impressed with her sacrificing her body to take a charge for her team in a showcase setting like this.

This past weekend’s Triumph Region Finals were a home game for Kendrick given she plays for nearby St. Anne-Pacelli. Her Porter Sports 15U team was one of the last four teams standing in bracket play. She stands at 5-foot-9 and primarily operates at the three. A 3-point shot is part of her overall offensive arsenal – as she displayed when she connected from long range in that 15U semifinal contest with Macon Mystics 2028 on Sunday. Kendrick also added eight to her team’s total in a previous contest with All Alabama 15U. When one has the rebounding ability of a four or a five with the long-range accuracy of a two, it makes Kendrick very difficult to game plan against.

Given Kendrick plays for a Columbus-area school in St. Anne-Pacelli, she did not have the arduous trek to get to Columbus State that others may have encountered. Kendrick was part of a 2024-25 Vikings version that concluded last season with a 22-4 record. She stands at 5-foot-8 and can make plays either in the interior or from long range. There will be plays where she sets up offensively either in the corner behind the arc or on the wing, giving opposing defenses the question of if she will shoot or if she will attack the basket. Her height is complimented by the length she has.
