Reyes’ 4A Hartsville team may not have had the season last year that Red Foxes fans have become accustomed to but that was not because of a lack of effort on her part. She particularly stood out on Friday when her SC Future 16U team was matched up against Shooters United 16U – a Texas-based grassroots assembling. As a two guard, one would expect Reyes to have the shooting ability to match her primary position – and she displayed that on Friday evening at Roses. Reyes averaged 12.5 points last season for the Red Foxes in the 21 games that she competed in. 

Usually, when a program graduates a pair of star seniors as is the case for 4A Hartsville, they look to their rosters to see who will assume that role for the next several seasons. This past weekend, Reyes resembled someone who is more than ready to assume that role for the Red Foxes. She showcased what she can do from behind the 3-point line and also displayed her ability to draw contact and find her way to the free throw line. Reyes has been playing at the varsity level since she was in the eighth grade and averaged 7.3 points and 1.1 steals per contest last season at Hartsville. 

It is fitting that in the early portions of the Expo 3v3 shortly after the Freshman Showcase had concluded that a couple of the first standouts that were on hand in Rock Hill were a pair of sophomores. Reyes is one of those standouts from 4A Hartsville and she has been playing at the varsity level since she was an eighth grader when she played in 24 games. She has shown plenty of improvement as a scorer and that certainly was on display throughout the day. Her ability to collect steals only compliments what she is able to get accomplished on the offensive end. With the graduation of two star seniors from last year’s rendition, Reyes will assume a leadership role going forward with the Red Foxes.
