I have heard from a trusted source that Laqua is ‘going to be a stud.’ She has the physical capabilities to be a very effective high school post. The EDC has a handful of teams with height and Jocelyn should be able to defend them well. If Davies can get to the state tournament in 2027, Laqua’s strength and defensive fortitude is going to be critical against the premiere posts of the WDA. She moves well, can push opponents near the rim, and can secure rebounds. I also expect Jocelyn to also take a step forward with her offensive production in 2026-2027.

Davies has a ton of turnover heading into next season with some key graduations. They will be looking for players to step up and fill multiple roles. Laqua is someone who I think will be stepping into a much bigger role next year. She is a solid 6′ and a very physically strong player. It is my understanding that she only began playing basketball a handful of years ago. She could end up being a special player if her progression in the last couple years shows anything of what’s to come.

Jocelyn is a fundamentally sound post. She got into many games this season as a reserve and showed a lot of promise as a player. She will be playing big-time minutes next season and will be fighting for a starting position. She consistently boxes out her girl and pursues rebounds. She is a good ball-screener – she sets her feet, occupies space, and rolls hard. She is able to catch passes on the move and is physically strong enough to finish through contact. She has good size and athleticism for a post and has potential to be a great high school player for the Eagles.
