After a hard-fought run to the VISAA state title game. The Catholic High School Crusaders proved they belonged among Virginia’s elite before eventually running out of gas on the biggest stage.
Now comes the dangerous part for the rest of the field, almost everyone is back.
With only one senior departing, the Crusaders enter the 2026–2027 season as a legitimate contender to finish the job. Led by one of the most versatile players in Hampton Roads, Justice Brown-Jones.
Brown-Jones is the definition of a matchup nightmare.
A true do-it-all combo guard, she possesses the rare ability to impact all five positions on the floor. Strong and physical enough to battle post players inside. Yet skilled enough to initiate offense, create off the bounce, and stretch defenses from the perimeter, her versatility allows Catholic to play multiple styles without sacrificing production.
But what separates Brown-Jones is not just versatility —
it is adaptability.
Few players can seamlessly shift from guarding bigger opponents in the paint one possession to facilitating offense the next. Her basketball IQ, vision, toughness, and expanding offensive arsenal have made her one of the more coveted recruits in the Class of 2027.
Now entering what could become a defining senior campaign, the expectations are clear.
Anything short of another deep postseason run will feel unfinished.
If Brown-Jones can lead Catholic to a state championship, it would not only cement the Crusaders as one of the premier programs in the VISAA. She would solidify her legacy as one of the most impactful players of this era in Hampton Roads girls basketball.

Jones possesses the ability to take over a game offensively while still operating seamlessly within the structure of her team’s system. While her scoring often draws the headlines. Her defensive impact is an area that can sometimes be overlooked. That is an oversight that shouldn’t continue.
In a recent matchup against Norfolk Christian, Catholic faced the challenge of containing 6’9″ Abuna Ruop. The answer came in the form of Jones. A second-half adjustment placed her on Ruop, and the impact was immediate. Using a combination of technique, physical strength, positioning, and relentless effort. Jones held Ruop to just four second-half points while significantly limiting her presence on the glass.
It served as a reminder that while Jones can seemingly score at will, her defensive versatility and commitment may be just as valuable to her team’s success.

was another show stopper in the building and her versatile game is why. Jones was smooth in the mid-range shot, dangerous in the paint, and played with physicality and skill. She created scoring opportunities with exceptional footwork and scored with the left and right hand. On defense, Jones showed the ability to defend out on the perimeter, but was impactful defending the paint. College coaches were in heavy attendance during the Catholic versus Somerset game, and the sidelines was buzzing.
