Expert Analysis

Kassie had a solid Spring but an even better July. Additionally, she has transferred back to Southport where she began her career. As a Sophomore for the Cardinals, she averaged 13.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, but last season at Decatur Central, the strong and physical wing scored it at a 9.3 point-per-game clip. She plays with a nonstop motor and a lot of emotion, and she can affect the game in many ways. She rebounds and defends with aggression, she’s a strong attacker offensively, plus she can knock down an open jumper.

Kassie had an impressive end to July, and she is a strong, physical, high-motor wing prospect who can play multiple positions. She is an aggressive downhill attacker off the dribble, she can play in the mid-post as well, plus she can knock down open jumpers from the perimeter. She rebounds her position well, plus I like how she’s able to defend ‘2s’, wings, and undersized ‘4s’. Kassie was at Southport for two years, attended Decatur Central as a Junior in 2023-2024, but she is reportedly back at Southport once again for her final season.

Kassie’s group had a tough matchup in their Under Armour “showcase” game on Friday, facing off against the top IGB UA Rise GUAA team. But at no time did Kassie look phased. She played with a nice motor, she was constantly encouraging her teammates to keep playing hard, and she was aggressive herself without forcing too much of the action. She is a strong, physical guard/wing, she has some ball skill, plus she can score it in a variety of ways from all three levels. When she exercises this kind of shot selection, she can be highly productive, plus she always defends and rebounds with effort.

Kassie could have popped up in a couple of different articles this week, because there are a lot of different ways she can affect a game. I chose versatility, because she literally plays everywhere on the floor. She is very aggressive, both as a scorer and defender, and she is a pursuing rebounder who can also get physical inside. She is strong and tough enough to battle forwards and posts, but she also flies up the floor in transition as a guard/wing who can score it at all three levels.

The way she plays, Kassie is an absolute bulldog on the court. She really doesn’t worry about who is around her, in front of her, whatever, you aren’t going to just come take the ball from her. She has a strong frame, she’s aggressive to the rim, and she can absorb/finish through contact. Defensively, she’s tough and strong enough to defend forwards, but she’s also really good defending wings with her physicality. If she can prove this Spring to be quick enough to defend 2-guards off the dribble, that will certainly help her recruiting. All-in-all, she is typically highly productive.

Kassie is an absolute bulldog on the floor. She is extremely aggressive, physical, and she plays with an outstanding energy. The biggest thing for her moving forward will be controlling that energy and changing speeds from time to time. She has a really nice North/South athleticism, and she handles contact well attacking the basket downhill. She can also play against bigger guards, wings, and even some undersized forwards without limitation. She is great in the mid-post, good around the perimeter, and I think she “fits” a few of the elite small colleges in the Midwest.
