“You can tell that Scharf and her MW Premier program understand what each prospect in their program is best at. In Scharf’s situation, it’s shooting the basketball from deep. Her 16U Nike team runs a lot of stuff in the half court to get Scharf open looks from three point land but at the same time, she tries her best not to settle. She has a picture perfect shooting stroke from almost any distance with great balance but she can also put it on the floor and finish with a midrange, floater, layup, or at the free throw stripe if she gets contact. All in all, a really solid prospect out of the 2026 Class.”

Kate has a smooth release from downtown and has impressive range that stretches out well beyond the 3-point line. She moves well on offense to get herself open without the ball and is shot ready when the ball gets there. Unafraid of the big moment, she is willing to have control of the ball down the stretch for her team. The ability to attack the basket and finish in the paint completes a very solid offensive game for Kate.

Kate is an essential presence on the girls’ basketball team in Spearfish, SD, and boasts an impressive skill set that combines both shooting and an aggressive mentality. This dual-threat player showed she can influence both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Her consistency as a three-point shooter makes her a potent scoring threat for her team and helps generate points both in her knocking down baskets, and her teammates being able to drive in the gaps she generates by stretching the defense. Her ability to attack the basket showcases her offensive versatility, and she does an excellent job positioning her body to finish at the rim. This combination of skills makes her a scoring force and leaves defenders guessing. Defensively she looked capable of guarding multiple positions and shows off a very high basketball IQ. Rounding out her game is a willingness to board on both ends and a competitive mindset. Look for big things out of this talented guard/forward from Spearfish this winter!
