The combination of size, skill, and athleticism will lead to some comical-looking stat lines in the Great Northern Conference. The Medford wing can play with her back to the basket, knock down perimeter jumpers, block shots, and attack off the dribble, which is uncommon in her part of the state. Baumgartner has the potential to be a coveted scholarship-level athlete but still has some room to grow. The Medford native has been an intriguing two-way player to keep tabs on this season.

The potential is there for the Medford wing. You won’t find many kids with Baumgartner’s size, shooting touch, length, or skill. Sometimes, when I watch her on stream, I’m blown away by some of the things she can do physically. Baumgartner is a multi-sport kid, and if she doesn’t play volleyball at Medford, I’d be surprised. I’m sure she’ll have plenty of options of what and where to play at the next level, but her ceiling is high on the basketball court, and if she ends up being a scholarship-level athlete when she graduates from Medford.

Baumgartner is a very athletic power forward/center with a long wingspan that makes her a tough defender who’s able to disrupt plays and challenge shots. She’s also a solid passer and moves the ball well. At 6’1”, she’s impressive on fast breaks and handles the ball surprisingly well at her height. She has a nice shooting stroke and has shown that she can hit shots from the perimeter. Around the basket, she finishes strong with both hands showing good versatility. Last season as a freshman, she led Medford in scoring with 11.2 points per game and played a big role as a starter. She’s bound to make an even bigger impact this year as a sophomore.

The 6’1 Medford wing is a kid that has all the tools to make Medford a sneaky competitive group in the Great Northern. She can step out and knock down shots, rebound, control the area around the basket on the defensive end, and use her length to make plays on the ball. The multi-sport athlete has all the physical tools to take over games, and the skillset is there that could help set her apart in the long run.
