You have to love a kid who plays hard on both ends of the floor, but the players who shine on the defensive end are usually the ones who can really change the outlook of a game. Kayla does just that. She is not afraid of any guard who wants to dribble their way to a bucket. She moves well laterally, shows a good understanding of when to be physical and when to be patient and poke at the ball. The defense is clean and sharp, and she rarely gets into foul trouble. The offense is there, and she’s not afraid to take the midrange or step out beyond the arc, but her ability to sit, contain, and force turnovers is what stood out the most.

The Ignite Hoops program is home to some of the top underclassmen talent in the state, and Daugird is part of that group. She hangs her hat on the defensive end of the floor and seems to enjoy that side of the game more than scoring, which is rare for young talent. From an offensive standpoint, she can bring impact as well. A floor stretcher with confidence and barely any hesitation when she has to shoot.

A workhorse of a player. Kayla brings the intensity and energy that every program will thrive off of. She has no off button and will do whatever it takes to contribute to the win. Once the offensive skillset sharpens, she could be a leader for Buffalo Grove over time.

Daugird is one of those tough players that will run through a wall for her team and coaches. In a hard fought game, she was impactful during every possession she was part of. Whether it was offense or defense, she was pivotal in her team winning. A coach’s favorite type of player.

One of the scrappiest players in all of 15U (Romeoville) that showed out today. Defensively, she caused a ton of problems for guards, whether in the passing lanes or just meeting them right under the basket after a bucket. Offensively, she finds her way to the rim without needing to do too much. Has a knack for making the right plays as well when it comes to distributing.
