Expert Analysis

I had the opportunity to watch Kelis compete with her Always 100 team in Louisville this past July, and I was immediately impressed with her scoring ability. Whether attacking the rim or knocking down shots off a drive-and-kick, she consistently found ways to produce offensively. What stood out even more was her athletic explosiveness, especially when matched up against other guards. Kelis plays with relentless effort on both ends of the floor and is always in top condition, allowing her to impact the game at a high level. She projects as a mid-major Division I prospect who has already put several programs on notice with her talent and competitiveness. Last season, she led her team in scoring (14.2 PPG), assists (2.2), and steals (1.6), showcasing her ability to contribute across the board. As she heads into her senior year at Jeffersonville, Kelis has the tools and determination to solidify herself as one of the best players in Southern Indiana.

Kelis has always been a high-level playmaker who does a nice job of using her size and strength to power her way to the basket. She is very physical at the point of attack, and she can use her ball skill to get defenders off-balance and on her hip, drawing a lot of opportunities to get to the free throw line. On Day 1, she was extremely aggressive to the basket, plus she did a nice job of balancing scoring with finding open teammates along the way.

Kelis is a strong, dynamic, explosive, playmaking point guard who has a love for the highlight play. She is a blur in transition, she changes directions quickly, and she can find teammates in the open floor. She does have a lot of scoring programmed into her as well, and she’s best getting downhill and attacking the basket. She could be great for this Clark County group because of her explosiveness drawing “help”, opening up other shooters and playmakers listed below. I’m anxious to see what kind of Junior year she puts together.
