Jones earned high marks from college coaches with her two-way play against Norcross. Jones is a strong compact ball handler with a feisty demeanor on defense. She picked up the full length of the floor and drew two charges. Jones turned defense into offense with breakaway steals, scoring in transition. Mya tallied 7 points, 1 assist and 3 steals in a 42-39 loss to Norcross.

When I first saw her as an eighth grader, I was blown away with Kimya’s ball handling. That same ball-on-a-string handle has now graduated onto the varsity level. The rising sophomore is so reliable with the ball. She’s built like a running back, strapped with muscle so no opponent will be able to fluster her physically. Jones shot the ball well at camp, netting a three in each of her three games while mixing in a pull-up jumper from the mid-range.
