Chapman is a staple at Battle at the Border tournaments. The 3A Panthers time at the 2023 rendition may have began on an inauspicious note with a close defeat to 1A St. Joseph’s Catholic, but it was not because of the star Panthers junior. Wilder put 19 points on the board to lead her team. What makes Wilder so dangerous is not only her scoring ability, but how her stifling defense can lead to more opportunities for her team to generate offense. And much of that offense comes by way of the 3-point shot. A good bit of it also comes via free throws. She also uplifts a team’s rebounding efforts and knows when to pass and score.

Wilder likes to set the tone from out top. She plays really well with the ball in her hands surveying the defense. Krislyn can step-up and be that scoring point guard when needed. She was able to finish some mid-range jumpers here today along with create scoring opportunities for her teammates.
Wilder is a vocal leader on the floor and really does a nice job of playing the game the right way with a great attitude.

The rising star from 3A Chapman is the other of the two for FCA SC Eagles 2024 Black currently playing up in class. While she does possess a highly potent ability to give her team production from behind the 3-point arc, she also has rim attacking capabilities. Between her ball handling, speed and knack for finding a way through a defense, those opposing defenses and coaches have to stay alert when noticing Wilder. She can also score from the midrange and will find herself in iso situations to set up her team’s offense. Rebounding, passing and collecting steals are other noteworthy elements to her complete game.

Wilder has positioned herself nicely to be a primary element in a winning formula for the 3A Panthers in the coming seasons. Chapman occupies a 3-AAA region where Blue Ridge and possibly Travelers Rest may serve as the primary competition for the Panthers. Wilder is an effective scorer for Chapman and a key element of what she does in that element of the game comes from her accuracy from 3-point range. She is also an effective ball distributor and will have her games where she collects a high amount of rebounds. Collecting steals is another primary element to her game.

Even following Gramling’s graduation after this season, those who live, breathe, eat and sleep Panthers basketball will have plenty to look forward to in the coming seasons with its youth movement. She put together one of the signature freshman seasons of anyone across the state last season as she averaged 16.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game. Wilder also displays a great deal of accuracy from behind the 3-point line and uses her length to disrupt an opposing team’s passing lanes. She also is skilled as a transition runner and brings plenty of speed and quickness to the court.

The girls basketball program of the 3A Panthers looks to be in good hands over the next few seasons as long as Wilder sports Chapman’s signature navy blue and orange wear. Wilder defined what a breakout freshman season was last season. In 26 matchups in 2021-22, she averaged 16.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.4 steals per contest. Wilder possesses pinpoint accuracy from behind the 3-point arc and will get out in transition with a great deal of speed. Defensively, she can use her length to disrupt passes and clog an opposing team’s passing lanes. Expect to see a jump in Wilder’s college recruitment in the coming seasons.
