Laila put on a show with Lady Shockers 15U at the PGH Michigan State Tournament. She dribbled out to the perimeter and patiently surveyed the scene, then attacked down the baseline after a between-the-legs crossover move to score a drive-by bucket off two feet through contact for the and-one. Laila was the only one who seemed to notice that she was only shooting one free throw, so she sprinted right in to corral the miss and make it a four-point play. Laila drove by from the perimeter to score a speedy layup off two feet and went back to the well, evading a defender to score an athletic, high-jumping pro hop layup off two feet without skipping a beat. She swiped the ball away for a breakaway layup with her left and picked off a lazy pass to score a pull-up jumper from the wing. Laila swished a wing three off the dribble, tripled in the corner, and drained another open three when the defender decided to take away the drive. She competes with a high motor and chased down a breakaway layup for a pursuit block. Length, athleticism, skill, physicality, and a two-way impact add up to a ton of next-level upside.

Laila has length, athleticism, strength, and versatility that immediately popped out when she stepped onto the court for the PGH Michigan State Showcase. She started the day strong during drills. Laila used a powerful rip move to drive by for a contested layup, went into an all-out sprint to chase a breakaway down from behind for a block, and bottled up ball-handlers with her long lateral strides and quick feet. Laila continued to stand out during games, stepping out to the perimeter to bury a three and dribbling out of pressure to throw a great entry pass to a cutter for an assist. She split defenders on a hard drive from the corner to cause a foul, and converted multiple contested layups in traffic off the dribble.

Laila is a 2029 prospect who has appealing length, athleticism, and versatility. She handles the ball with strength, knocks down mid-range jumpers, and is a threat from beyond the arc. Laila disrupts passing lanes and shots with her length, while making an impact as an aggressive rebounder. She was a PGH MI College Tour Wayne State All-Tournament Team selection and will be a prospect I’m excited to watch this Friday.

I can feel Laila’s power dribble from where I’m sitting!  She’s fundamentally skilled, capable of knocking down the three ball, and I love her transition game!  Excellent mid-range jumper especially from the baseline!  

Laila asserts her will as a rebounder, and she’ll be a major factor on the offensive glass. Her length, endless motor, disruptive hands in the passing lanes, and ability to finish tough shots through contact will be a challenge for opponents to match up against at the PGH MI College Tour on Saturday. She’s a forward suiting up for Lady Shockers 15U with a ton of potential and next-level upside.

Laila is an incoming freshman who looks ready to have a very productive high school career at Henry Ford. Her length, high-motor style, and effort on both ends of the court will make her a stat stuffer. Laila worked hard to secure rebounds. She grabbed an offensive board and fired a zip pass to an open teammate on the perimeter. Laila prevented turnovers by meeting passes in the air and she caused deflections by keeping her arms active on defense. Laila scored an offensive rebound put back off two feet and finished a tough layup off the glass despite hard contact. She made smart kickout passes off drives and is a forward prospect with a bright future ahead of her.

Laila brings toughness and energy every time she steps on the floor, making her presence felt with her relentless effort in the paint. She’s a tenacious rebounder, especially on the offensive end, where she fights for position and capitalizes on second-chance opportunities. Her physical style of play around the rim draws contact, and she isn’t afraid to mix it up inside. With her grit and nonstop motor, Laila is the type of player we’d love to see at the PGH Freshman Showcase.
