Leah Dukes
About Leah
Expert Analysis
Avi Burmenko | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Leah is a special talent, already starting on a 17U AAU team as an eighth grader in the Class of 2030. She uses her length effectively to finish over defenders and applies heavy pressure in full-court defensive situations. Offensively, she has deep range from beyond the arc and can knock down shots from well behind the three-point line. She’s also a strong finisher with either hand around the rim.

Dukes is an up-and-comer to watch this season. Has elite size and great basketball IQ, loves to set screens, and be physical in the paint. Can handle the rock and set up teammates. When she learns how to create easy shots for herself and add range to space the floor as she draws more double coverages, everything will slow down and become easier. Good mechanics will become more refined as her game develops with more reps.

I don’t see a lot of players like Dukes. She might be the most talented seventh grader I have ever seen. She will be an 8th grader next season and stands at 6’3. Not only that, but she can hoop. Elite handle and a three-level scorer. Think Briana Stewart. Loves to play the game and run on break. She is a force defensively and protects the rim, forcing opponents into jump shots.
Times her jumps well and knows where to be on the court to alter shots efficiently. Versatile and athletic, she can guard any position on the court and make plays. Likes to run in open court and attack. Good lateral footwork and motor. Loves to be a rim protector. Cleans up on the glass.
