The Aggressive Scorer is #27 in the rankings. Leanna is what I like to call a bucket getter. The first time I saw her play she came into the game and instantly made an impact. She operated as a ball handler, hustled for loose balls, found teammates, AND created for herself to score. She was at Booker T Washington that first time I saw her. She had transferred to Westwood the second time I saw her. That prior week she had scored 27 points in a game.

Aggressive Scorer. LeAnna Carpenter also barely missed making the Memphis 30/30 Club with a 27 point game this week. By attending this game, I learned that Carpenter is now a Longhorn. Earlier this season, I first saw her in the MLK tournament playing for BTW. The sophomore is the primary ball handler with a scorer’s mentality. She had a tough shooting night from mid range and behind the 3. However, she was able to connect or get fouled by attacking the basket.

#23 Bucket Getter. Leanna averaged 11.6 points, 2.5 assists and 2.6 rebounds last season for BTW. She is the only Top 25 player that I did not see during Fall League action or in a preseason game. The MLK tournament was my first time watching her play. She didn’t start the game and I could tell how anxious she was to get on the floor. When she finally got in the game, it was immediate impact. She brought the ball down the floor. She got on the floor after loose balls. She found teammates. She created for herself to get buckets. She shot a pull up. She shot from the 3. She brought a lot of energy and confidence to her teammates.
