Lorelai is a player who I have heard a lot about from her head coach at Houston County, Dani Wright, who feels she has a very good chance to be a really good player. It was clear with her play that Melvin is a student of the game and has a big basketball brain. Lorelai was very good scoring the basketball from all three levels. She has excellent fundamentals and clearly knows the game. I thought she was bigger than 5’7, but if she isn’t now she will be. Played much bigger than listed height.

One Step Away Select 2030’s weekend at Peach Games may have began inauspiciously by virtue of an overtime defeat to Grind To Shine (GTS) Basketball 15U but Melvin still put up an impressive performance with 12 points. Melvin was especially effective from behind the 3-point line as she was true on four of her tries from distance. Melvin had four of her team’s six made 3-pointers that game. Effective rebounding capabilities, keeping one’s hands and arms outstretched on defense and calling for the ball are other positive attributes that will ensure Melvin is a name to keep an eye on.
