Lyza, a guard for CCE, delivered an impressive all-around performance during Saturday morning action at the PGH MI State Tournament. She played with great energy from start to finish and impacted the game in multiple ways on both ends of the floor. Offensively, Lyza used a quick crossover to create separation and get past defenders, while also showing strong awareness moving without the ball on a well-timed cut that led to a finish at the rim. She was also effective from the perimeter, knocking down shots from beyond the arc with confidence. Her playmaking ability stood out throughout the game as she consistently made smart reads, including a pair of strong drive-and-kick passes — one to an open perimeter shooter and another to a post teammate inside. Lyza’s court vision and decision-making helped keep the offense flowing, and defensively she stayed active with good hands and disruptive pressure.

Lyza is a point guard from Mason who stood out at Northwood Team Camp. She was active in the passing lanes and disrupted the opponent’s transition offense with her anticipation. Lyza defended the ball with all-out pressure and did something you don’t see much at the high school level–communicated with teammates on offense. She called out her teammates by name to make sure they knew the pass was coming their way. Lyza drove down the baseline with a burst to score a reverse layup and picked up a loose ball to score a layup with her left hand. She pushed the ball swiftly in transition, changed directions with shifty crossovers, and used a sweet high pick-up move to avoid a defender.
