About Maddy
Expert Analysis
Devin Record | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Maddy is a great post player and a big offensive threat when she is on the court. She has great moves down in the paint. She has great strength, often using her body against her defenders to get easy buckets. She handles the ball well and is able to step out and hit the deep shot when open. She will be a nice addition to whatever school she chooses.

How do you think your team and yourself performed throughout this season?
-I think our team competed well for the amount of change and adversity we overcame this year. This was the first year with some core players graduated and we had a lot of young players who needed to step into a significant role for our team. We had such an improvement in individual and team skills. During practice everyone was able to develop and grow the skill range and it showed when applying it to the games. We learned as the season went on how to play together as a team and I was super proud of us. Although we didn’t have as many wins as we all had hoped, our energy and attitudes remained positive from the start to finish of the season.
What was the biggest obstacle you and your team faced this season?
-The biggest obstacle we faced as a team was losing some key players and us having to adjust by playing positions we have never played before. Some traditional guards had to step into the post position and vice versa. This challenge was really fulfilling for all of us as individuals because our talents were expanded in the game. The biggest obstacle for me personally was hurting my ankle a few weeks before the season ended. This allowed me to grow in my leadership because I learned how to lead even when not being on the court.
What do you think you improved most on the court?
-I think I improved over the season in my distribution of the ball. I stepped into being the point guard when usually I would be on the wing receiving the ball. I learned how to involve my teammates and find them shots in this position. This allowed me to really focus on developing my hall handling and court vision.
What are you looking to improve before the next level?
-Going into college, I’m looking forward to developing a stronger mid range game. Through high school I’ve really focused on my drives and threes, but I’m going to work hard this summer to be able to pull up in the mid range any time I want to.
Who are some teammates that you think stood out this season? Who are some teammates who could have breakout years next year in your eyes?
-This season Jojo Lindsey is who stood out to me. She gained a lot of confidence this year as our post. She worked hard in practice and during games to try out new moves and use them effectively. She was someone I could constantly count on as a scorer and strong head during the games. I think Natalie Vanliew and Faith Wilson could have strong breakout seasons next year. Natalie is just a freshman who has already taken the game very seriously throughout her life. She had to step in as another starter guard and fight against tough Varsity defense. She quickly adjusted to the fast pace of the game and I think she will grow into a strong voice and leader for the team next year. Faith had played very little basketball before this year. She has grown in her skill set and IQ rapidly in the little time she’s played. She was a beast in the games in her rebounding and quickness and I can definitely see her becoming a strong scorer for Mount Baker next year.
