Madelyn is the type of point/shooting guard that I would want leading my team because she is an extension of the coach on the floor. While she wasn’t the most athletic point guard in the 13’s bracket, she was arguably the steadiest, remaining in control of the game and her surroundings at all times.  I loved that she wasn’t afraid to mix it up and defend herself when her opponent started talking trash.  Madelyn has a very high basketball IQ. She controlled the team’s tempo throughout the game.  She knew when to shoot, drive, or pass the basketball at precisely the right time.  She fought for and secured rebounds to give her team second-chance opportunities to score. What truly sets her apart is her rare ability to move in space without the basketball—a high-level skill that is incredibly uncommon for this age group.  Given the right opportunity to continue growing and developing, she will excel in high school and potentially at the collegiate level.
