She pressure ball handlers, elevates to block shots, and competes with high energy/effort on the floor. MaKayla is a forward who I expect to have an important role for the Cougars this winter.

MaKayla competed with great effort and a high motor for Dakota at Northwood Team Camp on Saturday. Her defense and toughness caught my attention, as she cut off a guard with her quick lateral slides and walled up to block a shot. MaKayla pressured a ball handler without fouling and created an over-and-back violation. She powered through a foul for an and-one inside and stole the ball away. During the OT Tourney, MaKayla drove hard to the rim to draw a foul, hit a free throw, and tied up the ball on defense.
