There were a few of these “running back” style of wing guards, and Maliyah did a nice job of getting her shoulders down, protecting the ball, and absorbing contact as she attacked the basket. She has broad shoulders, a strong, athletic frame, and nice length, but rumor has it she’s still just 14 years old. She has some shiftiness to her as well, and once her handle is a bit more dynamic, she could be a real problem. She also competed well at the defensive end.
