Expert Analysis
Earl Austin | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
A 5’7″ guard who stepped into a bigger role as a junior and became an impact player at both ends of the floor. She is a good athlete who can break down defenders to create her own shot on the offensive end. She is also very disruptive on the defensive end. As a junior, she averaged 14.5 points, 2.3 assists and a team high four steals a game.

Mariah Watkins from Rolla High School is a standout athlete and an inspiring individual. As a point guard, she plays a pivotal role in the team’s success, consistently balancing scoring with exceptional defensive contributions. Despite Rolla being a smaller school, their stats have improved significantly, and Mariah has been instrumental in that progress.
She is regularly in the top three scoring positions and averages at least four steals per game, with a season-high of seven. Her defensive skills, which are often overlooked for point guards, have been a key factor in the team’s success. Competing in Class 6 for the first time this year, Rolla has already established itself as a strong contender, thanks in large part to Mariah’s leadership and skill.

The 5’7″ 2026 guard was one of the best one-on-one players that I watched during the day. She had her iso game working very well as she set up defenders and broke them down with nice escape moves to get to her spots. She was really hitting that 15 to 17-foot jumper off the dribble. She also had a set of quick hands on defense, which she used to strip opposing ball handlers.
