As a sophomore Mong was a key part of the Oilerettes’ 2024 Class 2A State Title. With a field that appears wide open, Mong on Friday night submitted a strong case why Merritt could win their second title in three years. She’s a country strong guard, who was unstoppable on drives. Multiple “And 1” finishes and carried the whole town of Merritt on her back to a Class 2A Area Championship. Mong is looking to finish her high school career strongly, figuratively and literally with outstanding driving ability.

The Lady Oilers are looking for their third straight Class 2A tournament appearance. As a sophomore, Mong and her perimeter shooting helped them claim the crown. After a quarterfinals exit last year, it sounds like Mong is on a mission. She had a full stat line performance in a season opening win over a good Class 4A Kingfisher team. She went for 13 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. She then followed that up with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a win over second ranked class B-1 Canute. Their tough schedule will continue with an appearance at the prestigious Bertha Frank Teague Mid-American Classic over Christmas break

For this list, not only has Mong lived a State Fair dream. She lived THE dream, by helping Merit to a Class 2A State Title last year. As a sophomore, she was a clutch shooter from deep (including a big three to ice the championship game). With a pure looking jumper, it’s no wonder shooting was her main calling card during that Gold Ball run. But she can help as a secondary ballhandler. And was not afraid to help out on the glass. Expect big things from her junior campaign, with dreams of closing out the Big House with another Gold Ball.
