Mary comes from a very tall and athletic family, and her older sister Anna (2024) is off to play Division-I volleyball at the University of Connecticut, so there is some time spent on the volleyball court for sure in the offseason. Mary has really nice size, she’s quite mobile at that size, plus she has some touch and skill facing the basket in the mid-post. On Rivet’s schedule, she can also go to the block and dominate in the post without too much resistance from most 1A/2A “bigs”. She has nice hands, solid footwork, and she is a full-scholarship basketball talent, if she would choose to go that route.

For whatever reason, Rivet always seems to turn out tall, skillful front-liners. Not only does Mary have height, but she’s fairly strong and mobile, plus she can play in most areas of the floor offensively. She can establish position and post on the low block, but she’s equally good in the mid-post knocking down the mid-range jumper. Defensively, she poses a presence in the paint, where she can block/alter shots, but she also does a solid job of transitioning from end to end and establishing position early each possession.
