The speedy southeastern Oklahoma guard might as well have walked into gyms with at least a couple steals already on the stat sheet. And she doesn’t stop with just one or two, peep her 7 steal performance against Southside (AR). She’s a terror in the passing lanes, has quick hands on the ball and is a blur.
Unfortunately for Lopez, after a storybook like junior season. Which ended as Class 3A State Champions. Idabel made the jump to 4A and the season wasn’t near as smooth. But the multi sport star still had a very successful and prestigious high school career.

Outstanding senior guard, who was impactful on both ends of the court. Great end to end speed when pushing it in transition, along with ankle breaking ability in the half court. Good touch around the rim, finishing through contested looks or lofting them over the arms of defenders. Great instincts on the defensive end with the lighting quick hands to match. With a Class 3A State Championship and track honors on her resume, Lopez is one of the top available 2025 guards in Oklahoma.

The athletic lead guard covers an insane amount of distance on the court. She seemingly teleports to pop into passing lanes and has a big time motor when racing to chase down long rebounds and other loose balls. The junior also uses that speed to be a big time threat in transition. More than just a high level athlete, Lopez scored it well with consistent finishing around the rim. And big time shooting from distance, as at one point in the third quarter she was outscoring Adair by herself.

Mercades is another player who vaulted her way onto the rankings after a tremendous sophomore season saw her average over 20 points per game to go along with 7.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists. As Idabel continues to make run after run to the state tournament, Mercades just gains more and more experience as a team leader. She is a defensive beast who suffocates opponents with her effort and a floor general who makes the machine run for Head Coach Kayla Denton. Lopez is one of my favorite type of players who brings the softball mentality to the hardwood and if we can keep her in basketball at the next level, she will do big, big things.
