Miakayla is an athletic playmaker who had a breakout performance a year ago at the PGH Michigan State Tournament, and I was excited to see her back on the court with Grand Rapids Thunder 17U over the weekend. She changed hands to create a driving lane, got downhill, and drove by defenders with an extra burst to score layups. She chased down offensive rebounds and made great dump-off passes to open teammates after weaving through defenders off the dribble. Mikayla swiped the ball away to score a speedy breakaway layup and was active on the defensive end throughout the PGH College Tour.

Miakayla had ice in her veins on Saturday for Big Nik Basketball 16U. She led the squad in scoring, faking out her defender with an inside dribble to drive by for a layup off two feet. Miakayla deflected the ball away after chasing it down from behind and banked in an impressive floater off the dribble. She created space with a shifty crossover dribble before swishing a wing three and caused a turnover with her full-court pressure. Miakayla added an exclamation point to her game with a strong and-one layup after dusting defenders with an explosive dribble–she knocked down the free throw and came through in the biggest moments.
