I found new favorite guard in Northwest Georgia over the weekend. NaXyria Roberts is a quick pass-first playmaker that plays with a nonstop motor, flying around the floor to make plays. The hustler is a pesky on-ball defender with active hands, often converting turnovers into transition opportunities in which she thrives. Roberts, only around 5-foot-4, is quicker than everyone else to loose balls and stray rebounds. In the two games I saw, NaXyria averaged 9 points, 8.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 4.5 steals. The near triple-double machine scores with both hands around the rim, using her speed to beat her man to the hoop. The next step for Roberts would be to continue adding consistent range to her jump shot. I think D-III and NAIA schools will want to take a look at the Energizer Bunny.
