About Payton

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a 16-year-old varsity basketball player with 3 years of varsity experience. I play both point guard and shooting guard. My game is built around speed, strong ball handling, shooting ability, and aggressive defense. I can push the pace, create scoring opportunities, and defend tough matchups on the perimeter. I work hard on both ends of the floor and bring energy, leadership, & competitiveness

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is built on discipline, hard work, and humility. I may be quiet, but I lead through my actions and effort every day. I stay focused on improving as both a student and an athlete, always pushing myself to be the best version of myself. Maintaining a 4.0 GPA while competing in varsity basketball and cross country has taught me strong time management, mental toughness, and determination.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Outside of athletics, I take pride in my academic achievements and involvement in leadership organizations. I am a member of the National Honor Society, which reflects my commitment to academic excellence, character, leadership, and service. Maintaining a 4.0 GPA while balancing varsity sports and cross country demonstrates my dedication, discipline, and strong work ethic both in the classroom.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

My experiences as a student-athlete have helped me build valuable leadership and teamwork qualities. I have learned the importance of communication, responsibility, and staying composed in competitive situations. As a hardworking and humble athlete, I strive to lead through my actions by giving maximum effort, staying disciplined, and supporting my teammates.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have overcome challenges such as injuries, self-doubt, and bullying throughout my athletic journey. These experiences strengthened my resilience, confidence, and determination. They taught me how to stay focused, work hard through adversity, and continue growing both as an athlete and as a person.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am seeking a college that will support my goals academically and athletically as I pursue a future in pre-medicine. As a Native American student-athlete, I hope to use my education and experiences to give back to my community through healthcare and leadership.
