Poema is making her case as the top guard in San Diego regardless of class. The City League MVP provides so much firepower offensively while being an elite difference maker defensively (3 steals per game, 2 blocks per game). Poema scores the ball on all 3 levels and gets to the line at a very high clip. She is nearly impossible to keep out of the paint. Poema drives to the basket with purpose. She handles ball pressure well. She has the speed and power to take the bump or initiate the bump on her way to the basket. Poema has a nose for the ball on long rebounds. Her elite instincts are on full display on the defensive end. 5 games with 4 or more blocks! Poema checks all the boxes as a scorer, facilitator, and defender.

Tough, physical guard that attacks defenders hips and gets to the rim through contact. One of the top guards in the SD area, showed growth in her shooting consistency and basketball IQ over the summer. Great size/length and tenacity to guard multiple positions at the next level. Poema really came on towards the end of last year. 20+ points in eight of the last nine games, including three games with 30+! Poema led the entire CIF San Diego Section in scoring.. as a freshman! She can play point guard and facilitate as well. You don’t have to watch her long to figure out that she is a gifted scorer. Very hard to contain off-the-bounce. At her best with the ball in her hands as a go-to scorer. Poema does most of her damage in the paint and mid-range. Her floaters, runners, and tear-drops drive shot blockers crazy. She plays with great pace and will lead the San Diego section in scoring yet again.
