Wideman made a bit of news over the tail end of the offseason when she announced she would be committing to Columbia College to continue her track and field career. The Chiefs did qualify for last season’s 1A playoffs even though Wideman plays for a team that plays off the grid in McCormick County. She possesses plenty of playmaking ability particularly on the defensive side. Wideman does the little things with efficiency as well such as go after 50-50 balls. She understands how to get in position near the rim and turn passes she receives near the basket into two points for her team.

Wideman plays off the grid for the 1A Chiefs in a portion of the state that does not always generate a ton of attention. Wideman can come from seemingly out of nowhere and make plays, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. She can get in the correct spots to gather steals and does the little things that may not show up on a stat sheet such as battle for 50-50 balls. Offensively, she can receive passes near the basket and turn those into easy two-point baskets. Wideman also knows when to score and when to pass in addition to making accurate feeds to open teammates. Recently, she announced a track and field commitment to Columbia College.
