Samaira was determined to have a strong opening day at our PGH Michigan State Tournament, and that’s exactly what she did with Michigan Knights 17U. Samaira was active on defense, forcing many steals and making a textbook wall-up block without fouling. She took the ball to the basket like a running back charging through gaps to score layups and earn free throws. Samaira muscled her way inside to secure many offensive rebounds and score put-backs. She pushed the ball quickly down the floor with both hands to break the press and delivered crisp passes to teammates after penetrating gaps with her dribble.

Samaira is a physical, athletic, and aggressive forward who is a consistent double-double producer for Romulus. She went off for 26 points against Annapolis and 20 points against Crestwood. Samaira drives hard off the dribble to score contested shots, knocks down 3s, relentlessly pursues rebounds, and turns steals into fast break layups. She is an Eagle who is flying high for Romulus to start the season.

Romulus as a team was terrific in a 70-21 win against Thurston. While a lot of players were excellent for the Eagles, we’ll highlight Searcy’s game. She rolled in a fast paced offense, scoring 28 points. Searcy also dominated the glass with 16 boards.
