Expert Analysis

Outside of her ability to shoot it from the midrange to beyond the arc, I think her playmaking is still underrated. She has a long frame, and the confidence to make full court passes with one hand, while also having the IQ to know when and how to create mismatches just by being a decoy. Off the dribble, she is just as strong. The growth over the last few years has definitely shown.

The first of Nashville’s sister duo, Samantha is a player to keep your eye on this postseason. Brinkman can score at will, and there is little she can’t do offensively. Defensively she uses her length and size to create turnovers. Samantha is a leader for the Hornets and will be crucial to their success.

Brinkmann has been a name that has been under the radar due to her location, but when you get to chance to see this kid play, you understand why D1 coaches are so intrigued by her. She can score in the isolation, or play off the ball and beat you off back cuts, face cuts, or simply catch and shoot. The length and size help most on the defensive end. Strong potential.

Brinkmann was key in capturing their first IHSA 2A title this past high school season, and the year before they almost pulled off another win. Her skillset has grown, and she seems to have gotten more in control of her frame and how to use it. She is strong on the drive, high energy on the boards, and defensively her length allows her to cover positions one through four.

Brinkmann has been dominating solely off her size and length.. and that’s crazy to think about. A skillset is present, and it consists of shooting the long ball, cuts to the rim and being able to take her defenders off the dribble. As all these things become polished, she’ll be able to be a threat in any system and or position that she’s placed in. An intriguing prospect that will be fun to watch as the years go on.

Was super excited to see Samantha Brinmann on the floor for the Nashville team. The freshman guard showed that she deserved to be on the court. She has such purposeful movements on the court not seen in most young players. Her length is an asset and she uses it rebound, score and steal. She has a keen eye for her teammates placement which allowed her team to keep up with a tough Peoria Notre Dame team.

At 5-11, Brinkmann moves like a guard. She can attack the basket or facilitate the entire possseion. She has the length, the size to be a threat in the post as well, but with this program she’s utilized as a guard. Strong with the handle, and knows what angles to take. Tremendous upside.
