Quitman got so close to the championship last season after a dominant regular season. Though they fell short, Sara Dixon finally has a chance to bring a title back home on Thursday.
Dixon went off against Barton to pull them ahead and advance to the title. She put up 28 points, with 16 coming in the first half. Earlier in the regular season, Dixon had 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 blocks against 5A Sylvan Hills while going 4/4 from three.
I will say this: Dixon is one of the few star players who can comfortably sit back and let her teammates carry the load at times (which says a lot about the talent around her). When looking at old box scores from this season, Dixon has a lot of modest scoring performances, but when the games get tight, she comes alive thanks to her deadly outside shooting and tough drives.
Regardless of what happens in this game, Sara Dixon will have prospects of playing at the next level. She was offered by North Central earlier this month, and I would imagine she will receive more offers very soon, especially if they win this game.

Quitman was one of the top teams in the entire state last season, and a lot of the credit should go to Sara Dixon.
Dixon is a fantastic 3-point shooter who is not afraid to shoot from well beyond the arc. She is an accurate sharpshooter who can get going in a moment, especially in the district finals against Bigelow. In that contest, she posted 22 points, including 4 3-pointers.
Because Dixon is a shooting threat, defenders are sprinting to contest her shots, but all she has to do is hit them with a pump fake and drive the basket. From there, she can finish in the paint or hit a floater.
Sara Dixon will once again lead a talented and experienced Lady Bulldog squad back to the playoffs, but maybe colleges will finally start to pay attention.

To me, it was a shock that Quitman was not a 1-seed in the playoffs, as they had a 31-2 overall record and went undefeated in conference play. Despite that, they are still considered a heavy favorite, thanks to their tremendous depth and the great play of Sara Dixon.
During the 2A-5 district championship game versus Bigelow, Dixon put up 22 points in what ended up being a sizeable victory for the Lady Bulldogs.
The junior is capable of going for big games thanks to her great long-range shooting ability. She has a quick release and is automatic when left with too much space. Dixon is also a fantastic driver and defender, contributing inside and on the other side of the basketball.
The great thing about this team is that Sara Dixon does not have to be the go-to scorer every time. She can be a decoy and Quitman can find offensive success from other players on this roster. However, the Lady Bulldogs will face several great teams in the playoffs, with the first being Mountain Pine. With that being said, they will probably have to call upon Dixon to lead the way at times.
