About Stefany
Expert Analysis
Hunter Keith | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Stefani De Jesus is one of the most disruptive defensive playmakers in the 2029 class. Few players can change the momentum of a game the way she can with her defensive intensity, physicality, speed, and relentless effort on the court. She combines quick feet and straight-line speed that she used in the State Championship in Track and Field. She is one of those players who can erase mistakes of teammates and also erase mistakes of her own. She consistently creates opportunities through her defense, turning stops into offense and impacting the game well beyond the stat sheet. Her ability to make plays on the defensive end places her among the top defenders in Florida’s 2029 class.

Stefany is another underclassman poised for a larger role as Sarasota Booker looks to replace significant production from a graduating senior class. As one of the top returning guards on the roster, she should see increased minutes, usage, and responsibility heading into her sophomore season. What has stood out this spring is her ability to impact the game when given a larger role against players in her own class, showing the energy, competitiveness, and tenacity that make her such an intriguing prospect. The next step will be seeing how that translates back to the high school level as expectations increase. Sarasota Booker will be one of the more interesting teams to evaluate during the FABC Scholastic Live Period, with a roster that could look much different than it did just months ago.

Stefani De Jesus | 15U
De Jesus may still be developing her offensive game, but her impact on a basketball court is impossible to ignore. De Jesus had just returned from participating in the State’s tournamanet in track and field. As fast as she moved on the court, the surprise would have been had she not participated in that event. Her elite speed translates directly to the hardwood, where she creates chaos on nearly every possession. Saying her defense is disruptive hardly does her justice. She flies into passing lanes, intercepts passes, generates steals, and routinely turns defense into instant offense. Her closing speed allows her to erase mistakes—whether her own or a teammate’s. From there, she makes showtime plays that don’t always show up in the box score. What separates De Jesus is the relentless pace at which she plays. She attacks loose balls without hesitation, throws herself on the floor to secure the ball possessions, and bounces right back up. In transition, she is a blur, putting tremendous pressure on defenses with her ability to outrun opponents and create fast-break opportunities. De Jesus embraces the physicality and continues attacking. Every game, she seems to produce a handful of winning plays through sheer effort, anticipation, and athleticism. As her offensive skill set continues to develop, the ceiling remains extremely high because the motor, competitiveness, and game-changing athleticism are already in place.

As a freshman, Stefany De Jesus has already taken on a major role, especially on the defensive end. She does a lot of the dirty work — guarding, pressuring the ball, and taking on tough assignments.
Her willingness to defend and compete every possession makes her a key glue piece for her team. For a young player, that level of responsibility and effort speaks volumes about her impact and trust from the coaching staff.
