Hobson is another multi-sport athlete who has competed in track and field in addition to what she gets done basketball-wise. She has also secured in-state collegiate offers in both athletic disciplines. Back in August, Hobson landed an offer from Voorhees for basketball and landed a track offer from Spartanburg Methodist. She thrives as a wing that has played at the high school varsity level since she was a middle schooler. Hobson averaged 9.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.7 steals and 2.4 assists for a Lugoff-Elgin team that had a banner first season of the Dominique Thompson era. The Demons earned a win in the first round of the 5A Division 2 tournament against St. James and nearly defeated Chapin in the second round. Hobson and her Lugoff-Elgin team are moving back to the 4A ranks beginning with this season.

After years and years of being seen as an afterthought in the Palmetto State’s high school girls basketball landscape, the Demons of 5A Division 2 Lugoff-Elgin are on the rise under coach Dominique Thompson. Hobson in her junior season competed in 23 of the Demons’ 25 matchups this past season and averaged 9.3 points, a team-leading 6.5 rebounds, 4.7 steals (second on Lugoff-Elgin) and 1.5 blocks (also a team-leading statistic). The 2025-26 Demons earned a first-round playoff victory over St. James and only lost to Chapin in the second round by a 50-40 margin. Hobson – one of three team co-captains on this past season’s Lugoff-Elgin assembling – will move down to 4A next season.

Hobson is one of three team co-captains on this year’s Lugoff-Elgin squad – and one of two juniors. A good bit of the Demons’ early efforts were keyed by Hobson – she concluded Monday’s contest with nine points and had five of those nine in the first half. As a wing player, she can give a team productive minutes either as a small forward or as a shooting guard. Connecting on floaters and midrange attempts only adds to her skillset. With a near six-foot stature, one can count on Hobson to haul in many rebounds, and her defense is also difficult for opposing teams to game plan against. Hobson first played at the varsity level as an eighth grader.
