#87 – When we first watched Mobagi play a year or so ago, she was as green as grass – but you could certainly see the potential. Fast forward to the Sophomore ID Camp and it was plain to see that Valerie has been putting in the work. Back then she only scored inside: now she has a solid jump shoot with some range. She keeps things simple, is developing a nice feel for the game, and has a world of potential. Mound-Westonka was 1-27 last year, but a little playing time for Valerie might help the White Hawks improve.

I remember watching Mobasi this past summer during AAU season simply just working hard and learning the game on the fly. Fast forward a few months and where her game was from then to now is night and day. I don’t think she took a shot outside the lane during the summer and on Sunday, she was knocking down 17-footers hand over fist. Her efficiency is what really stood out. No wasted movements or dribbles. Everything was either to get to the basket or getting it out of her hands to a teammate to make something happen. I asked her how she’s come so far so fast, and she just said, “I’m in the gym every day.” There it is folks, if you want to be great, you must put in the work. The proof is in the pudding.
