About Whitney
Expert Analysis

Smith had it going in all facets on offense. Speedy in transition and when attacking in the halfcourt. Knocked down three triples in the first half. Then was also handing out dimes in the fourth quarter. Including a perfectly weight feed to a rolling screener. While another time she played fast but under control in transition and found a teammate for an easy score. This is a continuation of her fantastic play at the Tournament of Champions, where she was named all tournament team.

Quick guard, with even quicker handles. Very tough to keep out of the lane, especially with her crossover. Can get all the way to the rim, or loft floaters over the arms of defenders. Has a good history of being a standout perimeter shooter, making her one of the more complete scorers in Oklahoma’s Class of 2026. Combines with McSwain to make for one of the better senior backcourts in Oklahoma. And positions Union to make another Class 6A State Tournament run.

The second part of the tone setting Union backcourt against Edmond Memorial. Smith’s jumper wasn’t falling early, but her energy level and athletic movements were promising. As basketball often does, it rewards energy and effort. Smith’s jumper started fouling, from three and in the mid-range. All while she continued to get after on defense. It was Smith’s scoring that helped close the door in the contest. Signs point to a potential big junior year for the dynamic guard on a deep Union team.

Smith crossed the state line from Oklahoma and not only is Oklahoma OK, so is Whitney. Well, she’s actually “more than okay” yet one my first stories about her almost 5 years ago spoke volumes . She scored off the dribble, show the mid to long-range as well as solid court vision both in the set as well as in transition plus she played solid defense, even played the passing lane
