One would be hard-pressed to locate a team that is entering this year’s respective state tournaments with more momentum than 2A Lake Marion. The Gators concluded its 2025-26 regular season with an 18-8 record along with going undefeated to win Region 5-AA. In addition, Lake Marion is in the throes of a 12-game winning streak. The final score of Friday evening’s contest proved to be 57-47 in favor of the Gators. Instrumental in Lake Marion’s victory was the performance of Moorer who came through for her team to the tune of 20 points. Out of the 20 she did score, 12 occurred in the second half. Moorer may have had more if it were not for having to sit much of the second quarter as she encountered foul trouble. She is a versatile three-level scorer that can also haul in a good number of rebounds and collect a high number of steals. Given how effective she is playing either the two or the three, Moorer will find plenty of time at the wing.

One more season in the high school ranks awaits this skilled name whose career has included stints at 2A Lake Marion and 4A Richland Northeast. Moorer is a consistent playmaker on either end of the floor. Defensively, it is difficult to score on her as she can come through with a block in the open floor. Moorer understands how to intercept passes and she bolsters a team’s rebounding capabilities. She is very versatile with the ability to operate at virtually any spot on the floor. Moorer approaches the game with a high basketball IQ – such as getting in front of a would-be ball carrier during a fastbreak to prevent a transition layup. She stays one step ahead of her competition on either defense or offense.

When looking at the reasons as to why 2A Lake Marion concluded last season with a record of 22-3, Moorer definitely has to be either at or near the top of that list. She may be listed at 5-foot-9, but at times it appears that she is playing even taller than that – especially in the interior. Moorer averaged a robust 12.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest in 2024-25. Opposing teams have to game plan for her on the defensive side of the floor as well as evidenced by the 4.6 steals on average she posted. Moorer can also plae emphasis on shooting 3-pointers to make her game more versatile.

In a matchup as hotly contested as the one between Lake Marion and Hampton County was, every bucket counts. That includes the 13 points that Moorer scored that lifted the Gators to victory over a tough region rival in the Hurricanes. Lake Marion had plenty of early success draining 3-pointers and much of that was thanks to the play of the Gators’ star junior. Moorer is listed at 5-foot-9 on the Lake Marion roster. Her versatility is another strong point of her game as she can give a team productive minutes from a variety of spots on the court. Moorer ensured that as January transitioned to February that the Gators would remain with only one loss (Orangeburg-Wilkinson in mid-December) on its 2024-25 resume.
