All-Indiana Showcase: Top 2019 Performers

All-Indiana Showcase: Top 2019 Performers
Prep Girls Hoops Kansas Scouting Report

This past Sunday, IGBRR (Indiana Girls Basketball Recruiting Report), hosted their annual All-Indiana Elite-80 Showcase. There were just over 70 prospects in attendance, ranging from the 2019 class down to the 2022 class. In this report, I will take a look at a handful of the 2019 prospects who stood out to me when I was able to see each of them perform. In total, there were 16 2019 prospects on the rosters handed out at the event. [caption id="attachment_10979" align="alignleft" width="209"] Aubrey Barker of Plainfield H.S.
Photo courtesy of flyergroup.com.[/caption] Aubrey Barker, 2019, 5-7 G, Plainfield H.S. Aubrey is an absolute ball of energy. She flies around both ends of the floor making plays for her teams, and she is always communicating and engaged in the action, even from the bench. She has really good length, athleticism, and a nice toughness / grittiness to her game. She can handle it a little, she sees the floor fairly well, and she can hit shots at all levels, though she could be a more efficient shooter. She should make a tremendous small college combo guard. Hannah Lindsey, 2019, 5-8 F, Speedway H.S. I have seen Hannah play numerous times, and this was the most active, aggressive, and skillful I’ve ever seen her. She has typically played more like a “tweener”, willing to play a role and make the hustle plays to help her teams win. But Sunday she was handling the ball in transition, attacking the basket for scores, and hunting jump-shots around the perimeter…knocking them down comfortably. She could still be better on the ball defensively, but she had a nice all-around showing at the event. Rylee Morris, 2019, 5-8 W, Indianapolis Lutheran H.S. I first saw Rylee a year ago, but each time I was able to see her grassroots team this past Spring and Summer, she wasn’t in attendance. She was at this event, though, and she really good. She looked a little stronger, a lot more fluid and athletic, and she has improved a great deal skillfully as well. She was able to handle it comfortably in transition, she attacked the basket strong, and she has a pretty perimeter stroke. She plays with a nice basketball IQ, and she always plays with a motor. Madeline Schumacher, 2019, 6-0 F, North Judson-San Pierre H.S. It’s strange to call someone who has played, and played well, in front of college coaches a “sleeper”, but Madeline is just that. She is a long, fairly athletic forward with wiry strength. She does a nice job of putting it on the floor at her size, and she is a good perimeter shooter. She isn’t overly dynamic at any one thing, but she’s very solid at just about every aspect of the game. Schools tend to value highly skilled face-up ‘4s’, so I anticipate her interest picking up very soon. [caption id="attachment_10980" align="alignright" width="242"] Leah Seib of New Palestine H.S.
Photo courtesy of greenfieldreporter.com.[/caption] Leah Seib, 2019, 5-11 F, New Palestine H.S. Leah is another “sleeper” like Schumacher (above), and I think both of them have fallen victim to a very deep and talented frontline group in 2019. Leah is a strong, physical, and skilled power forward. She has moves, counter-moves, and counters to her counter-moves around the block. She has a soft touch, and she has extended it to the perimeter. She will need to defend a little better out on the floor, but I like her offensive skillset and her potential to be a really nice small college face-up ‘4’. Other 2019s in Attendance: Megan Harlow, 2019, 5-7 F, Whiteland Community H.S. Katie Herron, 2019, 6-0 C, New Palestine H.S. Jacy Hughes, 2019, 5-4 PG, Bedford North Lawrence H.S. Maddie Knight, 2019, 5-6 G, Noblesville H.S. Sarah Martin, 2019, 5-8 W, Kankakee Valley H.S. Taylor Pasquale, 2019, 5-8 W, Logansport H.S. Michaela Schmidt, 2019, 5-10 F, Highland H.S. Lindsey Simpson, 2019, 5-10 W, Knox H.S. Jayda Smith, 2019, 5-3 PG, Penn H.S. Caitlyn Snyder, 2019, 5-9 F, Indian Creek H.S. Bailee Taft, 2019, 5-4 G, Greenwood Community H.S. Header photo courtesy of IGBRR.com.
