Photo courtesy of the Advantage News As a part of our on going series of preview articles about the Prairie State Conference we will now be looking at who are the top scorers in the conference. Who will make the key shots for their team and lead them to the big wins that will determine the conference champion?

Anna McKee is a 5'8 guard from Father McGivney. Anna averaged 18.4 points per game in her freshman season last year. McKee did a lot of damage from the outside as 59 of her field goals came from behind the three point line. She was extremely consistent during the year as she was held to single digits only one time. McKee had a 33 point game during the year and made 5 three pointers in two separate games. She was also a good free throw shooter converting 52 free throws at a 66% clip. By developing her range to be able to shoot comfortably a step outside the line McKee is able to get her shots even when pressured. Her defense tends to lead to offense as she averaged over 5 steals which led to many easy fast break opportunities..

Madison Webb is a 5'10 forward that forms a dynamic duo with Mckee for Coach Jeff Oller and the Father McGivney team. She averaged 11.8 points per game as a Sophomore and has been working on her her 3 point shot since last year. Be expanding her range she will make it tough on defenders to pick their poison with her. She is effective in the low post and getting offensive boards and also has great success in the high post area by being able to hit the shot or drive to the basket. Madison should have a strong season as teams will no doubt be focused on slowing down McKee after such a big freshman year.

Sami Kasting is a 5'6 senior guard for Metro East Lutheran. Sami has been the second leading scorer for Coach Stock and will be expected to pick up more of the load as the team tries to replace the scoring of Ellen Schulte. Sami shot 49% overall from the field and 77% from the free throw line last year in scoring 10.6 points per game. She can get to the basket and needs to refine her ability to finish in the lane along with increasing her 3 point percentage this year to maximize her scoring.

Destiny Williams is a quick point guard for Metro East Lutheran. She will team with Kasting in a nice one- two punch this year. Like Kasting, Destiny will be counted on to pick up the scoring that was lost when Schulte decided to transfer. Williams is very fast and can get in the lane to create for herself and her teammates. She finishes well in the lane and that is where she scored most of her 9.3 points per game last year. If she is going to really excel she will need to improve her shooting. Destiny hit 26% of her 3 point shots and 52% of her free throws last year. With hard work on that shot the sky might be the limit for Destiny.

Kayla Brantley is a 5'7 guard that returns for East Alton-Wood River to lead the team in her junior year. She averaged in double figures last year, was an all conference selection and is a good threat from the 3 point line. The Shells tend to play a large number of players and will at times run 5 in and 5 out. If Kayla can develop more consistency she will most likely see even more court time and increase her productivity this year. As she develops her ball handling and ability to get to the basket she will also increase her scoring.

Adrenna Snipes is a 5'7 freshman point guard that is poised to take over the rains for Coach Lee Green and the Explorers. She is fast and can handle the ball very well. Because of that she is very hard to keep out of the lane. She can hit the 3 when left open and is really adept at scoring in the lane. She is an exceptional passer that is more than willing to watch her teammates do the scoring if teams collapse on her, but the Explorers will need her to score if they are going to duplicate the team success they had last year.

These ladies will have the opposing teams ready to try and stop them night and in and night out. The winner of the conference title will definitely in part be decided by who get's the consistent scoring from their top weapons.
