Next in our series of player profiles is Carrollton senior Hannah Krumwiede.Hannah is 5'5 guard that has already been a 3 time all conference selection. Hannah was named 4th team All State by the IBCA in her junior season and also tied for 2nd place in the state 3 point contest last year. Her next milestone will likely come this week as she is just 7 points shy of 1,500 for her career. Hannah has excelled in her career by being capable putting the ball in the basket in many different ways. She is clearly a very good 3 point shooter as noted by her run in the 3 point contest last year. Hannah is not a one trick pony. While she is not being tall, Hannah is strong and smart. Those traits allow her to finish against bigger players in the lane. Hannah is comfortable and often told that she is best, in the fast paced game. Her ability to finish is an important part of that. She will hit the 3 if she is left open. But, once you establish a name like Hannah has, you don't get left open anywhere on purpose. So, fighting through junk defenses designed to slow her down has been a way of life. Hannah is a willing passer. With a father that spent many years coaching the game, she has learned where the open man will be. Hannah is averaging 3.7 assists per game and is hitting 75% of her free throws, just like you need your point guard to do. She feels like her ball handling has gotten better over the years, but it is still something she looks to improve. During the summer Hannah really worked on leading her team as a true point guard. She put her scoring to the side and tried to focus on getting her teammates the ball where and when they needed it. To maximize her college potential Hannah knows she has to improve. She is focused on getting stronger, playing better defense and rebounding more. Again, despite being the point guard her father has taught her that rebounding is important. Hannah understands that all high school players need to improve their defense going into college. The game is faster and the players are better. To handle the pressure of the college defenses she will need to be even stronger. In addition Hannah is focused on constant improvement in her ball handling to handle that pressure. Hannah is also a very good softball player and plans to try to pursue both sports for her first year in college. She has played shortstop and been an all conference selection there too. Her summers have not allowed her to really maximize her recruiting for either sport. June is dedicated to high school basketball so it leaves little time for both select softball and basketball. So, her best options will be D3 and Junior College to try both.   Hannah is a 4.0 student that is tied for 1st in her class. She is a good student, which will help in funding a possible D3 opportunity. Hannah has plans to pursue an accounting degree. She likes math and has done the research on the accounting field enough to know that it is what she wants to pursue. She has a plan. With that decision in place she would like to find a college to pursue the sports she loves. Hannah has talked to the coaches for both sports at Illinois College and taken an unofficial visit last summer. Parkland College has pursued her for basketball. With a strong finish to her high school career Hannah is hoping to uncover some additional opportunities. She knows she would like to be close enough to home to go home but not too close. Hannah wants to expand her horizons, make more friends. While she will always be a Lady Hawk, she wants to use college to expand her experience and network. I have had the opportunity to coach against and watch Hannah the last few years. She is obviously a very good player and a better person. I am confident the small college or JC that lands this young lady will be happy they did.
