Here are some of the big games this week:
West Fargo Sheyenne vs. Fargo Davies – Tuesday, Feb. 12
This game could have major seeding implications for the EDC tournament in a couple weeks. Sheyenne is currently the No. 3 team in the league while Davies is No. 6. The Mustangs need this one because they’ve also got to play Devils Lake later in the week. Fargo Davies seems to be picking things up as of late and the Eagles have a chance to still scoot up the standings as well. Either way, both teams will be tough outs in the EDC tourney.
Fargo Shanley vs. Grand Forks Red River
It seemed as though Fargo Shanley had a firm grip on the No. 2 spot in the EDC but with losses to Devils Lake and Davies in recent weeks, a window has opened for teams like West Fargo Sheyenne to potentially sneak in and knock the Deacons down a peg. This game against Red River – the No. 4 team currently in the EDC – is a big one for both clubs. The Roughriders still have a chance to climb the standings with teams ahead of them still on the schedule.
Mandan vs. Bismarck Century – Thursday, Feb. 14
Here’s a Valentine’s day treat for girls basketball fans. The two best teams in North Dakota square off for a rematch in what could be the second of four meetings these two teams have this season. The Patriots beat the Braves in a hotly-contested affair way earlier in the season but both teams have been terrific all winter. There is a ton of talent all over the floor for this one as these two teams are the most talented in the state.
